Difference focus create different feeling

I also took these two pictures in the university when I hang out with my friend ^____^. I tried to shoot at the very low angle (nearly at the ground). the second one is full-focus...everything is sharp except the very-small part of foreground but the first one is different, just the foreground is in focus and everything else is blur. I found out that it's really interesting when people are not those which is in focus and the fact that other thing in focus rather than pple create the very different mood for the picture ^_______^

Perspective

I took this picture sometime ago at the university. I really like the perspective in it. also there is a rhythm which is also rather interesting to me.

Here is another picture that I took. This one is also 'bout perspective...the main line in the middle also create the balance for the whole image

Safe sex poster

This is the poster I did for my assignment. At first I seemed to be stuck because I felt so embarrassed to talk 'bout such topics -_____-...but finally I can get over it ^____^

You can see people in the poster are rather young with that kind of wearing style...not teenager anymore but have just become an adult.....At this age, people are most easily to get idea that
they've actually become real adults, being so much experienced in life...they're not gonna listen to any others' advices but do everything they think it's right.

This poster doesn't aim to "tell" they that they shouldn't have sex because that only can makes them be more curious and try to do it anyway :D :D :D ...but, the poster tell that "no matter how they do, just make sure they use something to protect themselves from things that can hurt them somehow"

Poster

This is one of the posters I found on the internet when I did my research for the assignment 2b. I think this poster is terribly shock with the woman hold the gun in this position. The viewer will directly receive the message about having unsafe sex means killing yourselves.

Photomontage - My self-portrait

This is the piece that I did for my assignment on creating a portrait of myself.

At first I found it's really hard with me to manipulate an image >.< ...not because I cannot do with such technical stuff but because I just get used to take the picture naturally then leave them without any manipulation...I was so clumsy at that time with my computer, my mouse and the pictures of myself :D :D :D. I was stuck with this assignment for a week T___T...

After the lecture that Maddy talked about how self-portrait represent ourselves, I started thinking 'bout my life, my habit, hobbies, my characteristic also. This portrait somehow represents myself, really...actually, another me...that never showed in a normal life...

This portrait is composed by 2 pictures that I took by myself from the high angle with my face at two different position (the original ones look quite ...well, foolish =)) ). I tried to play around with Adjustment in Photoshop (desaturate, brightness and contrast, level, ect.) I also found a tutorial online that guided me how to make an image look like drawing by arranging several layers in different opacity value combined with the filter; then I applied on one of my picture ^___^ (it's the picture on the background).
I use the stamp clone tool to create random pattern on the background: one part of a thing repeated randomly... The foreground is my image with one eye covered by my hair and another eye looking up...Somehow, it represent the mysteriousness and insecureness inside myself but stubborness and self-willed in reaction ^___^...In contrast, I - in the background-image - bows....represent the weakness, the unconfidence and the ...fear (?!)....yeh, that's really another me...I'm looked pretty active, confident and strong as well in the real life but another person in me is so unconfident and weak...Actually I have to "fight" with myself a lot in a real life to act in the "confident way"....luckily, I still can control my feeling T___T
Another element I put on my self-portrait is the water-liked surface...I did this by applying chrome filter on the selected areas..you know, as mature as I got, I hide myself inside more...sometimes, I even felt like I have a millions masks (hey, it's not that I do not live sincerely :D...this is just another aspect ^^) just that, I do not wanna (or afraid of ?!) share my real feeling, my real thinking to the others...that's also the way I protect myself from being hurt (at least I think so :D)

Anyway, as I said before that's another me who is never showed outside, in the real world...therefore, nobody can see or ...check if it's real or not, hehe :))

P/s: I'm not gonna talk about the pattern on my hair :D :D :D...that's just the little thing identifies me which is maybe really...foolish to others :D but...meaningful to me :P....

Color

Source: http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/60877655/?qo=1&qh=special%3Anewest

I got that image on Deviant art when I surfing this web...this is really nice color image. There're 2 part, one at the top with hot analogous color, and one at the end with cool color also in analogous scheme...the color is changing in radial make viewer feel somehow insecure....

No title

I took this picture in one afternoon at the university's football ground.....Today, I looked at some pieces of my work before and I saw this...this somehow likes my emotional at this time....

Gestalt Exercises

This is the layout I did for my exercise on the way gestalts affect viewers in graphic design ^___^

In this exercise, I used the masking tool to create 2 images of flowers in 2 diagonal conner. Both of these 2 images just show a part of the flower base on the concept of CLOSURE. and you can see, surely people will complete the image about a flower immediately in their mind ^__^

I also did play around with typography. All of the title is just one font which is Myriad Pro - one of san-serif fonts, but in different size and weigh. if you pay attention, you will see the words become bigger and bolder from "the" to "of Plants"...The word "SEX" in set in Red 'cos I think that color somehow represent sexuality. It's also hot, huh ? ;)
The other letter is white and green, which is complementary color scheme :)

Well actually I'm still not really satisfied with this pieces... something still seems to be not very good -___-... but I can't find out :| ... maybe I will try to create several versions for this layout ^___^...

Champa architecture

These are some pieces of pictures about "Thap Ba Ponagar" that I took in Nha Trang. It is the architech style of Champa people, which is really exciting, since long time ago. All of the towers is build from bricks without concrete but they are still very firm. People often go there to worship.

This is really an exciting experiences ^^ that I got in Nha Trang with my friend ^^

Elements of Design

I really like photography and I often take picture whenever I see something that exciting ^___^.... Actually I often do that with the feeling at that time...but in these pictures, I also did pay attention about the elements of design like line, shape and texture when I shot.

Photoshop_masking tutorial

This is the image I did for the photoshop tutorial on using masking and layer. I did this 2 times and I got 2 different results, because I set the layers in different mode such as soft light, hard light, overlay, multiply.... By changing the mode and opacity of each layer I can control the way the layers mixing together to create the image.

The image I made doesn't have deep color like the one in the tutorial but I like it be cause it looks like smoke comes out from the cello ^___^

Water

Wao, it's unimaginable that this is the REAL water...However, it is...
Well, these images are taken by my friend's friend :D, I was so suprised for knowing he took these picture and didn't edit them at all...
But I like the last one the most...he called it "night-grass and square moon", well, so emotional...here it is

Light - part 2 ^^

I took these 3 picture in one afternoon in my university. And u know what, all these pictures are taken in just about 30 minutes. You can see the sky change color so much in each picture. In fact, at that time, it changes color after each 10 minutes. what amazinh, huh ^^

Marco mode

In Photography, I like to take pictures with macro mode the most. However, it is rather difficult for me to control the depth of field but whenever you can control it, you can have an impressived picture with the clear and sharp main subject on the blur background, this will emphasize the subject much more.
Here are some of my pictures that I took on the way to my university ^^

Light

I took this image in the last trip with my friend. The original image is brighter but I like it much more after changing the constrast of the image.

The most thing I like in the editted-picture is the light :), I like the bright area on the sea while everything around is so dark. One more little thing is there's a small boat coming to the bright area ^^

Afghan girl

Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Afghan_Girl.jpg

The very first time I saw this picture is when my auntie come back home from Washington DC. She had gone to some museums in that city and taken many pictures there, and this picture was one of them. When I looked at the girl in this image, I was extremely impressed by her eyes. It is really a wildly eyes, right? ^__^

Another thing I like in this image is color. I think the photographer was very sensitive and precise when chose the green background for this picture. Do u see that Afghan girl also has green eyes ;). More over, she wear a red scarf (or whatever if you don't agree :D) over her head. It let the image much more mysterious. And, one more thing, red and green are exactly 2 opposite color in the color wheel...well, well, well...interesting, right? Again, I like this image a lot ^___^

Photojournalism

Source: http://svsphoto.com/city.php
From 1930s to 1950, television was not really popular in the world while people still wanted to know how the world around changed. Therefore, one kind of magazine, which is showed viewed the world through pictures, appeared in that time. This type of medium called photojournalism which means that the photographers have to take photographs exactly the way they were in reality.

As you can see above, all kinds of human activity seem to be caught into camera ^__^ and so they are reflected in the most truthful and live way.

There're some famous magazines in this type such as Life (USA), Pictures Post (London), Paris Match (Paris) and Sports Illustrated (USA)

Reference: wikipedia, 2007, Photojournalism, viewed 26th March 2007, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photojournalism.

Yeah, you can see directly that there's one object standing out the whole image, right? Is this interesting? ^___^

I like this. There's somethings like...real and not real...The scene is real (is captured by the artist) but...the color is not real (with a little Photoshop :D)...and the most important things is that the feeling I get from the image is real. When looking at that type of image, viewers will pay attention to the standing-out-object first, therefore, the feeling is also more focused ^___^

Contrast

I found this picture when looking for the contrast images, I mean the contrast in color, but this picture is contrast in the subject, I think. Also, its name is "Contrast". I found its really interesting ^__^ because at last, I think it is really good example of using contrast in photography ^____^. Viewers can immediately see the main subject in this picture is 2 small people sitting together on the desk, in front of the very large scene on the background. Moreover, both them and the foreground as well as some branches on the rear are in dark color while the background is bright (although it is set in gray-scale but viewer can feel the contrast 'cos it's shining outside the shade)

I also like the feeling from this image. Well, quite peaceful and safe. The close position in the middle of 2 people in front of the "huge world" let me think about the relaxation and composure. Maybe they're friends, and after a long life, they sit together and talk about what happened :P (just imaginary :D). I also think they are always willing to protect each other from the outside world (not really clear, but that's my feeling :) ) and so, it give the image feeling of safety

"Life-Love" Photography Exhibition

In last September, I went to a photography exhibition named "Life-Love" in Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi). This was an exhibition of 2 groups of photographer comes from the North an the South of Vietnam. The idea of this exhibition is expressed right on its name and it impresses me a lot. The way they take these picture such as camera angle or light is very nice. Especially, almost all of these picture are black and white, it let viewers feel somehow like nostalgic, something that belongs to the past and so, very tranquil and peaceful in each picture.

These pictures which I post here are just captured (by me ^^) from their artworks, so that the quality of them are not as good as the original, however they still somehow express the "soul" of the exhibition ^_^

My icon

This is the very first time I create my icon ^__^ ... I was absent at the first class and I had just come back on late Sunday...That night, I was heard that I had to finish my icon on Monday and I couldn't sleep at all ... and the idea come up accidentally in night when I thought about my zodiac sign ^^....

Since I was a child I have liked to read about the astronomy, the constellations...and the fate of people who were born under one sign and I was impressive a lot. I read a lot about this, just for fun, but...maybe believe a little bit . I was born under the sign of scorpio - the sign of mystery and maybe darkness ('cos scorpion is an animal that live in darkness almost all the time) . That's also the reason why I chose the color black and white. Moreover, these 2 colors are my favorite and they also present my opinion about life-style: infact, i'm a very straight-forward person. However, you can see that I'm rather inflexible and a little bit conservative (I just realized this when I finished this logo ).

About the shape of the icon, there are 2 letters "P" and "T" that stand for my name: Phuong Thao ^^. At the end of letter "T" is an arrow - the symbol of scorpion tail - this is very dangerous, I guess. According to Western Horoscope, a scorpio girl could be very very dangerous when she's angry .

Another idea that I think about when create the icon is the combination of Virgo and Scorpion (this is personal issue :D). There is a Virgo boy who is very speacial to me. Moreover, he is also the person who affect me a lot and maybe help to shape my characteristics ^^. The letter "P" is built from letter "T" and one part of Virgo symbol (this means Virgo help to orient "PT") ^^. Therefore, you can see "P" and "T", Virgo and Scorpion are weave to each other ^___^, and both of them are put in a circle which means the unity - the unity between us (in some aspects, lol), and the unity inside myself also ^o^
