Photojournalism

Source: http://svsphoto.com/city.php
From 1930s to 1950, television was not really popular in the world while people still wanted to know how the world around changed. Therefore, one kind of magazine, which is showed viewed the world through pictures, appeared in that time. This type of medium called photojournalism which means that the photographers have to take photographs exactly the way they were in reality.

As you can see above, all kinds of human activity seem to be caught into camera ^__^ and so they are reflected in the most truthful and live way.

There're some famous magazines in this type such as Life (USA), Pictures Post (London), Paris Match (Paris) and Sports Illustrated (USA)

Yeah, you can see directly that there's one object standing out the whole image, right? Is this interesting? ^___^

I like this. There's somethings like...real and not real...The scene is real (is captured by the artist) but...the color is not real (with a little Photoshop :D)...and the most important things is that the feeling I get from the image is real. When looking at that type of image, viewers will pay attention to the standing-out-object first, therefore, the feeling is also more focused ^___^

Contrast

I found this picture when looking for the contrast images, I mean the contrast in color, but this picture is contrast in the subject, I think. Also, its name is "Contrast". I found its really interesting ^__^ because at last, I think it is really good example of using contrast in photography ^____^. Viewers can immediately see the main subject in this picture is 2 small people sitting together on the desk, in front of the very large scene on the background. Moreover, both them and the foreground as well as some branches on the rear are in dark color while the background is bright (although it is set in gray-scale but viewer can feel the contrast 'cos it's shining outside the shade)

I also like the feeling from this image. Well, quite peaceful and safe. The close position in the middle of 2 people in front of the "huge world" let me think about the relaxation and composure. Maybe they're friends, and after a long life, they sit together and talk about what happened :P (just imaginary :D). I also think they are always willing to protect each other from the outside world (not really clear, but that's my feeling :) ) and so, it give the image feeling of safety

"Life-Love" Photography Exhibition

In last September, I went to a photography exhibition named "Life-Love" in Quoc Tu Giam (Hanoi). This was an exhibition of 2 groups of photographer comes from the North an the South of Vietnam. The idea of this exhibition is expressed right on its name and it impresses me a lot. The way they take these picture such as camera angle or light is very nice. Especially, almost all of these picture are black and white, it let viewers feel somehow like nostalgic, something that belongs to the past and so, very tranquil and peaceful in each picture.

These pictures which I post here are just captured (by me ^^) from their artworks, so that the quality of them are not as good as the original, however they still somehow express the "soul" of the exhibition ^_^

My icon

This is the very first time I create my icon ^__^ ... I was absent at the first class and I had just come back on late Sunday...That night, I was heard that I had to finish my icon on Monday and I couldn't sleep at all ... and the idea come up accidentally in night when I thought about my zodiac sign ^^....

Since I was a child I have liked to read about the astronomy, the constellations...and the fate of people who were born under one sign and I was impressive a lot. I read a lot about this, just for fun, but...maybe believe a little bit . I was born under the sign of scorpio - the sign of mystery and maybe darkness ('cos scorpion is an animal that live in darkness almost all the time) . That's also the reason why I chose the color black and white. Moreover, these 2 colors are my favorite and they also present my opinion about life-style: infact, i'm a very straight-forward person. However, you can see that I'm rather inflexible and a little bit conservative (I just realized this when I finished this logo ).

About the shape of the icon, there are 2 letters "P" and "T" that stand for my name: Phuong Thao ^^. At the end of letter "T" is an arrow - the symbol of scorpion tail - this is very dangerous, I guess. According to Western Horoscope, a scorpio girl could be very very dangerous when she's angry .

Another idea that I think about when create the icon is the combination of Virgo and Scorpion (this is personal issue :D). There is a Virgo boy who is very speacial to me. Moreover, he is also the person who affect me a lot and maybe help to shape my characteristics ^^. The letter "P" is built from letter "T" and one part of Virgo symbol (this means Virgo help to orient "PT") ^^. Therefore, you can see "P" and "T", Virgo and Scorpion are weave to each other ^___^, and both of them are put in a circle which means the unity - the unity between us (in some aspects, lol), and the unity inside myself also ^o^
